The fundamental role of the construction industry in economic prosperity — let’s take exports seriously
The head of the Export Development Commission of the Gorgan Chamber of Commerce said that the construction industry plays an important role in economic prosperity and sustainable development, and called for attention to exports, support for industrialization and the introduction of new technologies into the country.
According to the public relations office of ISTACO Steel Structures, Saeed Safavi, on the sidelines of his visit to ISTACO's stand at the Tehran international building industry exhibition, spoke about the importance of the construction industry in the country's economic cycle: the construction industry is especially important not only for job creation and production but also for creating the basic infrastructure for other industries.
He described job creation and reduced unemployment as important effects of a thriving construction industry on the national economy, saying that from construction workers to engineers, architects and various consultants, this industry has created abundant employment and acts as a main engine of job creation in the economy.
Stressing that a large economic network depends on the construction industry, he added that by creating various building projects — housing, office, commercial and industrial — the industry creates economic momentum and prosperity. These projects raise demand for construction materials, equipment and related services, which in turn increases the incentive to produce and offer the best products and services.
He called for attention to exports and for attracting foreign investment to bring new technology and construction methods into the country, saying that the world is researching and innovating very fast in this sector, and the entry of foreign investors, while developing trade relations, reduces project time and cost and makes production in this industry more economical.
Stating that the quality of Iran's products and engineering capability is very high, he called for attention to exporting technical and engineering services and exchanging technology with other leading countries. Safavi listed attention to new housing construction methods, changing and improving municipal regulations, raising building heights within defined areas and stricter supervision of the use of standard, optimized and industrial structures as essentials for developing the construction industry.
