Industrialized construction will be supported

Aini, CEO of Iran Urban Regeneration Company, said that despite problems such as social security insurance and the lack of cooperation from banks and municipalities, we are seeing a 40 percent growth in the issuance of permits.

According to the public relations office of ISTACO Steel Structures, Mohammad Aini, on the sidelines of his visit to ISTACO's stand at the building industry exhibition, spoke about the renovation of worn-out urban fabric and the national housing plan: the construction industry faces three serious problems — social security insurance, the lack of cooperation from banks, and the absence of incentive packages from municipalities.

The CEO of Iran Urban Regeneration Company said that social security insurance severely hampers construction in worn-out areas, adding that the new rules have favoured the affluent northern part of the city, reducing the social security insurance cost of permits there, whereas the cost in deprived and less privileged areas and in worn-out fabric has increased 20 to 30 times; according to the information we have, many builders are currently inactive.

On the lack of cooperation from banks and municipalities, he said the banking system has not provided full and adequate cooperation in granting facilities to worn-out areas and some municipalities have not implemented the incentive scheme; nevertheless, in the first three months of this year we saw a 40 percent growth in permit issuance in worn-out fabric compared with the first three months of last year.

Asked about the role of industrialization and steel structures in the construction industry, he stressed that in worn-out fabric any new industry that can shorten construction time and temporary-housing time will be supported, and said: speed is very important, and the particularity of worn-out fabric is the different geometry of the components, so we must be flexible; whoever can produce modular components for each part, speed it up and make it lighter will be supported.
