Housing leap plan depends on cooperation with the private sector and industrialization

Iri, the representative of western Golestan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, said that realizing the housing leap plan depends on cooperation with the private sector and on industrialization.

According to the public relations office of ISTACO Steel Structures, Abdoljalal Iri, visiting ISTACO's stand at the Tehran international building industry exhibition, said that two million plots for housing have been supplied across the country, but this has not happened for the northern provinces, especially Golestan.

The representative of western Golestan added that, to carry out the national housing plan, we could have filled this financing gap through cooperation between the private and public sectors. He said that if positive interaction between the private sector and the government is established, we can be hopeful about implementing the housing leap plan.

He noted that it is the belief of the government and parliament that housing cannot be supplied without the private sector, since over the past two years the government has tried every route to housing supply. Iri named the banks' lack of obligation to pay housing facilities as one of the weaknesses in implementing the national housing plan and said the banks are the main reason the housing leap plan has not been carried out; only Maskan Bank cooperated a little and the other banks were unsuccessful.

He said the only operational route left for housing supply is private-sector participation and industrialization, because private companies do not need loans to carry out this plan but do need appropriate pricing; and since there is no price agreement between the private sector and the government, interaction between the two will not materialize.
