Steel has been used in bridge construction since the last century thanks to its excellent tensile and compressive strength. Because dead load grows quickly with span, the lightness of steel sections makes them ideal for long spans.
Bridge components are fabricated in the factory, transported to site and adjusted and erected there. Types include rigid-frame steel bridges, suspension bridges and steel arch bridges, each designed for the project’s specific conditions.
