Raising construction safety with steel structures
Bidi, a board member of the Iranian Steel Structure Producers and Exporters Association, said that using steel structures in construction raises building safety.
Amin Bidi, speaking to the public relations office of ISTACO Steel Structures, said: when we are the world's eighth-largest steel producer, not using this product in structural production is meaningless.
He added that the speed, safety and quality of steel construction cannot be compared with concrete, but unfortunately our government officials, given the explanations offered about concrete, have fallen into the trap of building concrete frames, even though concrete can never pass the proper standards, since it is processed on site and is affected by various factors during execution.
The chairman of Hadid Sazeh Parand Company stated that in a country with water shortages, using concrete, which uses ten times more water than steel, is not reasonable, and if we explain this, government officials will certainly use steel in the housing leap — four million units in four years.
Bidi continued that the structure, as one of the main parts of the construction industry, is now recognized as having very high value in the life basket of Iranians. He said that non-standard structures, besides causing economic loss, endanger people's lives in events such as earthquakes, while the mandatory standard has been implemented and we are seriously following up its enforcement.
He stated that under the laws of the Islamic Republic, permits for non-standard structures are prohibited, municipalities must not issue completion certificates and other bodies must not give technical approval. A member of the Tehran Mass Builders Association board, he said that the Iranian Steel Structures Association represents a large guild and a great volume of employment — possibly more than 200,000 people in various sectors — and we will seriously pursue the implementation of the approved laws to help this guild become more dynamic.
